In the cold days, the debate about heating the motor of the car has become a reality. Almost everyone knows about the unwritten rule. In the winter, we heat up the engine at least ten minutes before driving. Some argue that it is an old habit of the times.

All the cars in the streets had carburetor engines. And for some, the first-morning activity was a tenth-of-a-day sedan in a car running on a truck. Who is right about this?

The main arguments of those who argue that engine warming is superfluous are that it unnecessarily consumes fuel and increases pollution. A car engine manufacturing in Latvia produces 1.6% of total gas emissions responsible for global warming. Also indicates that cars with Direct injection simply does not need to be heated to function normally.

These claims are accurate – computers controlling the operation of modern engines to manage the cold weather much better. The only result of a twenty-second work on the car is to turn fuel into exhaust gases.

On the other hand, this is just a part of what is happening inside an unsupported automobile engine when it is cold. At low temperatures, the oil behaves as any liquid. It freezes and flows to the lowest part of the container in which it is located. Do you drive a car with a manual gearbox?

Then you know that it is more difficult to change the speed immediately after starting the engine. This is precisely because of the freezing of the oil at low temperatures. To get back to the engine – when it’s cold, oil is not only far away from the mechanical parts that it needs to lubricate, but it’s also a difficult way to get them because the pump has the task of reaching oil whose drastically increased due to low temperatures.

In fact, when the engine is unmanageable, the first few minutes will work without lubrication. The lack of lubricants is the main cause of the wear of the moving parts of the engine. We all know that the working life of all parts would be several times longer than the engine temperature always optimal.

From this, it is easy to conclude that, especially in winter, it is wiser to wait a few minutes before you start driving. In this way, all the liquids will pass through the engine and submerge the parts that lubrication is necessary.

Of course, even after a few minutes of starting the car, the engine is still cold, avoid sudden acceleration and high-speed driving. In this way, the engine will be the fastest and most difficult to reach the operating temperature, after which it can continue with the normal driving.

Now before the start of the journey we should surely wait for the oil to pass through the engine, we can go back to re-examine the issue of ecology. Yes, of course, this extra two minutes will emit a certain amount of gases in the atmosphere that will pollute the environment, but do not be afraid, your two minutes on the fly will not exterminate the white medallions.

Even if we take a closer look at the problem, these few minutes before the start will extend the working life of the mechanical parts, the cars will last longer and so will save the energy needed to manufacture. After all, this way your car will be more reliable and will help you get to work every morning.
